FilmOne Entertainment, Nigeria’s leading film production and distribution company, has reaffirmed the credibility of its recently released Nigeria Box Office Rankings 2024, following growing inquiries about its selection process.

In a statement, the company emphasized that since 2020, the Nigerian Box Office Yearbook has served as a definitive industry resource, offering transparent, data-driven insights that filmmakers, investors, and stakeholders rely on.

FilmOne explained that its rankings are developed in collaboration with Comscore and the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN), ensuring an accurate and structured evaluation of box office performance, screen time, and the overall impact of talent contributions in films. The final selections, it noted, are validated by executive producers and based on standardized industry metrics.

Addressing concerns about the ranking criteria, the company clarified that:

To qualify as a performer in any category, an actor must have appeared in one or more films released in cinemas that grossed at least ₦20 million within the eligibility period (January 1st – December 31st).

To be considered a lead performer, an individual must be the designated lead in the film(s) in question.

Two male and female supporting performers are selected per category, with validation from producers and executive producers.

FilmOne emphasized that the Nigerian Box Office Yearbook has become a cornerstone of the film industry, and it remains committed to maintaining transparency, accuracy, and professionalism in box office aggregation and analytics.

“As the industry continues to evolve, FilmOne Entertainment will remain a beacon of credibility, encouraging all stakeholders to engage with verified data and uphold industry standards,” the statement added.
