Following quickly on the heels of the stunning feat by their male counterparts, J’Tigers, who thrashed Ghana 72-47 on Thursday, Nigeria’s U-18 female national team, the Young Tigress, annihilated Liberia by a record 90-9 points on Friday evening.

Led by Coach Juliana Akhere, the Young Tigress were simply unstoppable, taking their opponents to the cleaners in what seemed a one-sided game. “Our girls were exceptional. They executed the game plan flawlessly and showed great sportsmanship,” Coach Akhere commented after the match.

In related development, two Nigerian FIBA-badged referees are among the officials at the ongoing FIBA Africa U-18 Basketball Qualifiers for both male and female teams. They are Afolabii Ikuomola and Joyce Wandoo Akosu. “It’s an honor to represent Nigeria on such a significant platform. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of officiating,” Ikuomola stated.
