The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that no Nigerian life has been lost in Lebanon as the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah intensifies.

In response, preparations have begun to evacuate Nigerians from the region.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Ambassador Eche Abu-Obe, the government confirmed that the Nigerian Embassy in Lebanon has been working to ensure the safety of its citizens. “The Federal Government has begun preparations to evacuate its citizens from Lebanon. It is pertinent to mention that no Nigerian life has been lost since the beginning of the conflict,” the statement read.

The Embassy had earlier advised Nigerians in Lebanon to voluntarily leave, while commercial flights remain available. Citizens in southern Lebanon, where the fighting has been most intense, have been relocated to safer areas like Beirut with the assistance of community leaders.

The Nigerian government assured that it remains in contact with relevant stakeholders and is committed to the safe return of all its nationals amid escalating violence between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, which has now evolved into full-scale warfare.
