The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the commencement of the sale of E-tags, enabling entry into the 24 Federal airports in Nigeria, starting today, May 17.
This announcement was made through FAAN’s official handle on Friday, May 17, 2024.
This decision is in line with a presidential directive approved during the latest Federal Executive Council meeting, mandating all users of federal airports nationwide to pay tolls at the gates before access, without exceptions, including the President and Vice President.
This development coincides with economic challenges resulting from subsidy removal and currency floating, prompting the Nigeria Labour Congress to request a minimum wage increase, unsettling the government.
FAAN stated that motorists without E-tags can pay cash at access gates before airport entry, with defaulters facing exclusion. The announcement provided locations and contact information for obtaining E-tags at international airports in Lagos and Abuja.
“At Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, E-tags can be obtained at the Office of the Head of Department of Commercial Operations, Terminal 1, 5th floor, or by calling 08033713796 or 08023546030.
At Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, E-tags can be obtained at the HOD Commercial Office at the General Aviation Terminal, or by calling 08034633527 or 08137561615,”the statement concluded.
