
The Nigerian Government has appointed Farooq Oreagba, an investment banker and CEO Designate of NG Clearing Limited, as the Honorary Global Ambassador for Arts and Culture. This announcement was made by Obi Asika, Director General of the National Council of Arts and Culture (NCAC), via Instagram.
Speaking about the appointment, Obi Asika highlighted Oreagba’s significant impact at the 2024 Ojude Oba festival, where his vibrant presence and cultural attire stole the show and went viral on social media. Asika described Oreagba as the “King of Steeze,” emphasizing his ability to showcase Nigerian heritage and economic potential through his attire and participation in cultural festivities.
In response to his appointment, Oreagba expressed gratitude to the Nigerian government for the recognition. He conveyed his excitement, stating, “The last time I saw him he had not gone viral but today it’s different. He is now the King of Steeze and brought global attention.”
Oreagba’s flamboyant yellow and green Asooke outfit, coupled with his horseback ride, became a symbol of cultural celebration and garnered widespread acclaim, ultimately contributing to his new role as a global ambassador for arts and culture.
