The Federal Government of Nigeria has set September 15, 2024, as the date for the commencement of petrol loading from the Dangote Refinery. This announcement was made by Zacch Adedeji, Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), during a press briefing in Abuja.

Adedeji revealed that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) will begin supplying approximately 385,000 barrels per day of crude oil to the Dangote Refinery from October 1. He stated, “I am glad to announce that all agreements have been completed, and loading of the first batch of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from the Dangote Refinery will commence on Sunday, September 15.”

The arrangement stipulates that the Dangote Refinery will supply petrol and diesel of equivalent value to the domestic market, with transactions settled in Naira. “Diesel will be sold in Naira to any interested off-taker, while PMS will be sold exclusively to NNPC. NNPC will then distribute it to various marketers,” Adedeji explained.

This initiative marks a significant step in Nigeria’s efforts to enhance domestic fuel supply and stabilize the petroleum sector.
