The nation Nigeria was left in shock following the gruesome murder of 24-year-old Salome Adaidu, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, Timileyin Ajayi. The crime, which occurred on January 12, 2025, in the Nyanya area of Abuja, has sparked widespread outrage.
According to reports, Ajayi allegedly severed Salome’s head and dismembered her body. The brutality of the crime has left the victim’s family devastated. Speaking to newsmen, Salome’s elder sister described her as a brilliant, gentle, and reserved individual with great ambitions, which were tragically cut short. “She wanted to be like her boss. She had so many dreams,” her sister said, as the family called for justice.
The family is relying on the authorities to thoroughly investigate the case. Salome’s sister emphasized the need for a proper investigation and expressed confidence in the police and judiciary to deliver justice. “The way my sister was murdered, we expect the government and the judiciary to serve justice,” she stated.
Meanwhile, Timileyin Ajayi’s parents have expressed distress over the situation. His father, Sunday Ajayi, has pleaded for mercy, asking the government for intervention. His mother, Dorcas Ajayi, expressed shock, stating that she has left the matter to the authorities to handle.
The police have charged Ajayi with culpable homicide and he has been remanded in the Lafia custodial centre. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have assured the public that the case will be thoroughly addressed to ensure justice is served.
