Nigerian rapper and activist, Falz, has given social media personality Verydarkman a 24-hour deadline to retract statements accusing him and his father, Femi Falana (SAN), of involvement in dropping money laundering charges against Bobrisky.
The allegations surfaced after a viral audio recording on September 24, 2024, where Bobrisky claimed that he paid ₦15 million to some unnamed EFCC officers to have money laundering charges against him dropped. Bobrisky further suggested that a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and his son played key roles in the case. Verydarkman then alleged that Falz and his father were the ones responsible for aiding Bobrisky, sparking widespread reactions on social media.
In response, Falz, through his legal team, issued a strongly worded statement posted on Instagram on September 25, 2024, demanding an immediate apology and retraction. The statement read: “The entire publication was a vicious, wicked, and reckless ploy to impugn the reputation of our client and lower him in the estimation of right-thinking members of the public.”
Falz’s legal team further warned Verydarkman that failure to issue a retraction within 24 hours would result in legal action. “Be advised that if we do not receive your formal retraction and apology as demanded within 24 hours, we shall proceed with our client’s instructions to seek appropriate legal remedies, including monetary damages.”
The rapper’s ultimatum has set off a flurry of discussions online, with many eagerly waiting to see if Verydarkman will comply or face the impending legal consequences.
