The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has issued a travel advisory to passengers after flights scheduled to destinations in the Middle East from Nigerian airports were delayed or cancelled. The advisory follows ongoing disruptions in airspace over parts of the Middle East, where some countries have closed or restricted their airspace amid security concerns, affecting airline operations regionally and globally.

FAAN said that several international services, including flights operated by carriers such as Emirates and Qatar Airways, were impacted, with some routes either delayed or removed from schedules as airlines adjust to evolving conditions. Travellers affected by the disruptions were advised to contact their respective airlines directly for the latest information on flight status, options for rebooking, possible refunds, and other guidance.

The authority also noted that it was working closely with relevant aviation partners and airline operators to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed, while apologising for the inconvenience caused to passengers. The disruptions come amid a broader pattern of flight cancellations and rerouting linked to airspace closures and security measures in the Middle East, which have led to delays and cancellations in many parts of the global air travel network.

Passengers were urged to stay informed about their travel plans by checking directly with airlines and to be prepared for possible changes to schedules, given the fluid nature of the situation affecting international flight corridors.
