In a high-profile case, former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, his brother, Ahmad Sirika, and the firm Enginos Nigeria Limited, have been arraigned before Justice Suleman Belgore at the FCT High Court in Garki, Abuja. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has brought a fresh ten-count charge against the defendants, alleging their involvement in a N19.4 billion airport contract fraud.

The EFCC accuses the Sirikas and Enginos Nigeria Limited of orchestrating a scheme to defraud the federal government through inflated contracts for airport construction and maintenance. This case is part of a broader crackdown on corruption within the aviation sector.

During the court proceedings, the charges were read to the defendants, who all pleaded not guilty. The court session drew significant attention, given the stature of the accused and the substantial amount of money involved.

The EFCC, tasked with investigating and prosecuting financial crimes in Nigeria, has been actively pursuing cases of corruption involving public officials.

This case underscores the agency’s commitment to holding individuals accountable, regardless of their status.
