The Chairman of the House of Representatives Special Committee on Oil Theft/Losses, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, has declared that the era of crude oil theft in Nigeria is over, warning that anyone involved in this criminal act will face severe consequences.

In a statement released in Kano, Doguwa emphasized the committee’s mandate to uncover the underlying causes of the significant economic losses in the oil and gas sector. He vowed that the committee would bring both the culprits and their political allies to justice.

“The committee is determined to do whatever it takes to prevent further economic damage and ensure that the Tinubu-led administration is not plagued by these unfortunate occurrences,” Doguwa said. He highlighted the government’s commitment to economic prosperity and stated that these crimes would not be tolerated.

Doguwa also noted that the legislative agenda of the 10th National Assembly, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, would play a crucial role in helping the government meet its commitments to the Nigerian people. He stressed that the country could no longer afford to engage in global borrowing due to the economic leaks caused by youth restiveness and the vandalization of critical infrastructure in the oil-producing regions.

The committee’s actions, according to Doguwa, are aimed at preserving the nation’s economic stability and ensuring that the administration of President Bola Tinubu can deliver on its promises without the hindrance of oil theft and related crimes.
