The Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, affirmed that children above the age of seven can be legally charged in court. Responding to inquiries on the recent arraignment of #EndBadGovernance protesters, Adejobi emphasized, “Those exempt from criminal liability under the law are those below seven. Once you are above seven, you can be charged to court. The only consideration is the specific procedures required.”

Adejobi clarified that the youngest of the 76 individuals arraigned is around 13 years old, highlighting that they are criminally liable under the law. He alleged that some protesters “hijacked” the #EndBadGovernance movement, citing the display of foreign flags as an offense.

During the arraignment, Justice Obiora Egwuatu granted bail to the defendants, setting it at N10 million each, totaling N760 million. The judge required two sureties per defendant, including a Level 15 civil servant and a parent. He also mandated that the sureties submit official documentation and international passports, among other conditions.
