Former Kaduna State Governor and founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasir El-Rufai, has officially left the ruling party to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Announcing his decision in a statement on his X handle on Monday, El-Rufai expressed disappointment with the APC’s leadership, accusing the party of deviating from the progressive ideals it was founded upon.
He cited growing misalignment between his personal values and the party’s direction as a key reason for his defection.
