Ekweremadu’s wife - 1

Mrs. Beatrice Ekweremadu, wife of former Deputy Senate President of Nigeria, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has regained her freedom from a United Kingdom prison after completing her sentence.

She returned to Nigeria on January 21, and her arrival has been met with celebrations across Enugu State, particularly in her hometown of Mpu, Aninri Local Government Area, where jubilant well-wishers have gathered to welcome her back.

A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed to newsmen that Beatrice had returned to the country and is currently in Abuja.

Mrs. Ekweremadu was sentenced alongside her husband and Dr. Obinna Obeta by a UK court for their involvement in an organ harvesting case. While Senator Ike Ekweremadu received a 10-year sentence, his wife was sentenced to six years but was reportedly released after serving five years.

The high-profile case had drawn global attention, with Nigerian lawmakers previously appealing to the UK government for clemency. As celebrations continue, many in Enugu State are now hoping for the early release of Senator Ekweremadu.
