
The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Nigeria, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, has passed away following a brief illness. He reportedly died on Monday, November 4, 2024, at a tertiary health institution in Ekiti State.
Although official details surrounding his death remain undisclosed, sources indicate that Justice Adeyeye was hospitalized for a short period prior to his passing.
Justice Adeyeye was sworn in as Chief Judge on October 11, 2021, by former Governor Kayode Fayemi. Born in 1960 in Araromi Ugbesi, Ekiti East Local Government, he embarked on his legal career after being called to the bar in 1986. He initially served as a State counsel in the civil service of the old Ondo State before joining the Ekiti State Judiciary Service Commission following the state’s creation in 1996.
In 2002, Justice Adeyeye was elevated to the Ekiti State High Court, where he contributed significantly, including serving on election petition tribunals at various times. His death marks a notable loss for the Ekiti judiciary and the state’s legal community.
