The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained ten officers from its Lagos Zonal Command over their alleged involvement in the disappearance of operational items.
This was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale. The detention follows directives from the Commission’s Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, as part of efforts to address internal corruption.
“The officers were arrested last week and are currently answering questions related to the theft of operational items they could not account for. Investigators are making significant progress, and those found culpable will face internal disciplinary actions,” Oyewale stated.
The EFCC recently dismissed 27 staff members in 2024 over fraudulent activities and misconduct. This latest detention underscores the Commission’s ongoing commitment to rooting out corruption within its ranks.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing, and further updates are expected as disciplinary measures are enforced.
