The Department of State Services (DSS) has released the passport of Joe Ajaero, the embattled National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), according to reports.
The passport was released on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 through Abubakar Marshall of Falana Chambers.
The DSS had seized Ajaero’s passport following his release on Monday night after he was arrested and detained for over 15 hours while on his way to the United Kingdom for union business.
Speaking to newsmen , NLC Counsel Femi Falana stated, “Ajaero’s passport was released today through my colleague, Abubakar Marshall. It has been handed over to him.”
The NLC had issued a midnight ultimatum in solidarity with their leader, which led to the DSS eventually succumbing to pressure and releasing Ajaero before the ultimatum elapsed.
Further details will be provided as the story develops.
