The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a warning to the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, for obstructing Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team from accessing him. Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been denied routine access to his lawyers, despite a court order mandating visitation on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

The court’s Notice of Consequences, served by the Registrar and revealed by Kanu’s lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, warned the DSS DG of potential contempt proceedings. Ejimakor stated, “This Notice is necessitated by the repeated disobedience of the court-ordered visitation… The Director-General of DSS will be liable to imprisonment if the disobedience continues.”

The legal team threatened further action if the DSS fails to comply, with Ejimakor emphasizing, “If the Director-General of DSS persists on this ignoble path, he will leave us with no other option than to commence vigorous contempt proceedings against him.”
