Shehu Dikko has been appointed as the chairman of the newly reinstated National Sports Commission (NSC), following President Bola Tinubu’s decision to dissolve the Ministry of Sports Development. The announcement was made on Wednesday, marking a significant shift in Nigeria’s sports administration.
Dikko, previously known for his leadership of the League Management Committee (LMC), played a key role in the development of Nigeria’s top-flight football during his tenure. In his new role, Dikko will be responsible for overseeing sports policies and administration across the country, tasks previously managed by the now-defunct Ministry of Sports Development.
Dikko also brings experience from his work as a consultant to the House of Representatives Sports Committee, further solidifying his expertise in sports governance.
