One of the attorneys representing American music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs in his ongoing sex trafficking case has officially withdrawn from the legal team.

Court documents filed on Thursday in a Manhattan federal court revealed that attorney Anthony Ricco submitted a motion to step down from defending the embattled Bad Boy Records founder. Ricco did not provide a specific reason for his decision, but his resignation must be approved by a judge before it becomes official.

In his affidavit, Ricco stated, “Under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs.” He urged the court to approve his withdrawal, noting that he had reached the decision after consulting with Diddy’s lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo.

While Ricco refrained from disclosing details that could breach attorney-client privilege, he assured the judge that his departure would not disrupt the trial scheduled for May 5. Combs, 54, still has five other lawyers handling his defense.

The hip-hop mogul has been in custody since his arrest in September, with no bail granted. If convicted of the most serious charges, he faces a potential prison sentence ranging from 15 years to life.

The case has escalated, with at least 40 individuals—both men and women—coming forward with lawsuits alleging that Combs drugged, sexually assaulted, or raped them. Despite the mounting accusations, he has consistently denied all claims.
