Lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has expressed the view that the best Peter Obi can achieve in the 2027 Nigerian presidential election is to be the vice-presidential candidate alongside former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Adeyanju argued that only northern politicians have the capacity to effectively challenge President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming election.

In a post on his X account, Adeyanju stated that Atiku, a northern politician, remains the most viable contender to unseat Tinubu, and that Obi’s best political move would be to join forces with Atiku as his running mate. He acknowledged that this opinion might attract criticism from Obi’s supporters, known as Obidients, but maintained that political realities favor a northern candidate leading the opposition coalition.

Adeyanju’s comments come amid ongoing speculation about alliances and strategies for the 2027 elections, highlighting the regional dynamics that often influence Nigerian politics. He emphasized that without a strong northern candidate, it would be difficult to defeat the incumbent president.

This perspective reflects the complex interplay of ethnicity, regional influence, and political power in Nigeria’s electoral landscape as parties prepare for the next general election.
