Nigerian music icon D’banj is building excitement for his upcoming album, “The Entertainer D’Sequel,” which is set to drop on Friday, August 16. In a cinematic trailer released ahead of the album, D’banj is joined by an impressive lineup, including Mavin Records’ Don Jazzy, Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke, and media personality Jimi Akinsola.
The trailer, which has the feel of a spy movie, features an intense interrogation scene. In one of the standout moments, D’banj declares, “Just because the soldier rests his gun doesn’t mean he’s no longer a shooter.”
D’banj further adds, “People keep asking me if I’m back. How can I be back when I never left? I am the entertainer.”
The album follows a series of releases celebrating D’banj’s two decades in the music industry. Earlier this year, he dropped the single “04” in May, followed by “Koko” in June, a modern twist on his 2005 hit “Tongolo,” and “Worthy,” a collaboration with Senegalese legend Youssou N’Dour and Nigerian-American “The Voice” contestant Chechi Sarai.
These tracks are all expected to be part of “The Entertainer D’Sequel,” which is eagerly anticipated by fans and industry insiders alike.
