In a candid revelation on the popular Breakfast Club podcast, Afrobeat superstar Davido has publicly renounced his past womanizing ways, declaring a new commitment to monogamy. The 32-year-old hitmaker, born David Adeleke, opened up about how observing the complications of polygamy within his own wealthy family dynasty led to his transformation.
“Growing up, I saw my governor uncle manage two wives and another uncle with multiple wives all living together,” Davido shared. “Despite all our family’s money and influence, the drama never stopped. Those experiences taught me valuable lessons.”
The father-of-five (with four different women) admitted his past infidelities but insisted he’s turned a new leaf: “I’m done with cheating. No more wahala [trouble]. I’ve learned the hard way that peace of mind is more valuable than multiple relationships.”
Davido’s confession comes after years of public relationship drama, including high-profile paternity cases and cheating allegations. The “Unavailable” crooner suggested his turbulent personal life had become professionally distracting, noting: “When you’re constantly dealing with baby mama issues, it takes away from the music.”
Relationship experts have welcomed Davido’s stance as potentially influential among young African men. “For a celebrity of his stature to champion monogamy could shift cultural perceptions about masculinity,” noted Lagos-based therapist Dr. Folake Martins.
Fans remain cautiously optimistic, flooding social media with both support and skepticism under the trending hashtag #DavidoNoWahala. The singer’s wife, Chioma Rowland, has yet to publicly comment on her husband’s vows of fidelity.
