Afrobeats superstar Davido is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated fifth studio album, 5ive, set to drop on April 18. As part of his promotional tour, the Nigerian singer recently made a guest appearance on the popular U.S. radio show The Breakfast Club, where he gave fans a deeper look into his personal life, career journey, and the creative process behind the new album.

During the candid interview, Davido reflected on the pivotal role his family has played throughout his life and career, especially during challenging periods. He spoke emotionally about the unwavering support system that has helped him stay grounded amid fame and personal loss.

The conversation also explored his dynamic relationships with fellow Nigerian music heavyweights such as Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, and Wizkid, shedding light on both camaraderie and competition within the thriving Afrobeats industry. Davido also highlighted his international collaborations, including his work with American R&B star Chris Brown, as part of his continued efforts to bridge the gap between African and global music scenes.

Notably, the singer expressed frustration about the lack of recognition African artists often face internationally. He called out what he sees as disrespect toward Nigerian musicians in particular, despite their growing influence and the global popularity of the Afrobeats genre.

With 5ive just days away, fans are eagerly awaiting what Davido describes as his most personal and sonically diverse project yet.
