Nigerian music sensation David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has broken the record for the most-watched TikTok live stream in Africa, amassing a total of 389,800 viewers.
The milestone was reached during a livestream co-hosted with TikTok stars Peller, Jarvis, and Jo Blaq on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, which drew a peak of over 164,000 simultaneous viewers.
During the session, Davido received an impressive 377 “lion gifts,” with each lion valued at $400, bringing the total gift earnings to over $150,000. Generously, Davido pledged that the earnings from these lion gifts would be shared with his co-hosts, Peller, Jarvis, and Jo Blaq.
Previously, Peller held the record for Africa’s most-watched TikTok live stream, achieved during a session that featured acclaimed singer Tiwa Savage. Davido’s latest achievement not only marks a significant milestone for the artist but also reinforces his immense influence on social media platforms across the continent.
