Crystal Palace has completed the signing of 22-year-old Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche from Spanish club Getafe.

The transfer is an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy for approximately €20 million.

Uche joins Palace after two seasons with Getafe, where he made 41 appearances, scoring five goals and providing eight assists.

Uche’s rise has been rapid, having moved from Nigeria to Europe in 2022, starting at Spanish fifth-tier club Moralo CP before advancing to third-division side AD Ceuta.

He joined Getafe in 2024 for a modest fee and quickly established himself as a key player.

At Crystal Palace, Uche is expected to play a pivotal role in manager Oliver Glasner’s 3-4-2-1 system.

Known for his versatility, he can operate both in midfield and as a striker. His physical strength, pace, and finishing ability have drawn comparisons to players like Yaya Touré and Sadio Mané in terms of driving through midfield and creating goal-scoring opportunities.

Uche recently received his first competitive call-up to the Nigerian national team for crucial World Cup qualifiers.

He expressed excitement about the move, eager to contribute to Crystal Palace’s campaign in the Premier League.

The transfer also includes financial benefits for Uche’s former club Ceuta due to a sell-on clause.

Crystal Palace sees him as a youthful and dynamic talent to strengthen their squad this season and beyond.
