The Oyo State High Court in Ibadan is set to deliver its ruling tomorrow, January 13, 2024 on the bail applications filed by former Queen Naomi Silekunola, Alhaji Oriyomi Hazmat, and Abdulahi Fasasi.

The trio are on trial over their alleged involvement in the tragic stampede at Islamic High School, Basorun, which resulted in the death of 35 children.

During the hearing, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Abiodun Aikomo, opposed the bail applications, arguing that the defense had failed to present exceptional circumstances warranting their release.

However, defense counsels, including Adekunle Sobaloju (SAN), Musibau Adetunmbi (SAN), and Waheed Olajide, contended that the Magistrate Court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the case and that the suspects were being unlawfully detained.

Presiding Judge Justice K.B. adjourned the matter to tomorrow for the ruling on their bail applications.

The case has drawn significant public attention due to its tragic nature and the high-profile individuals involved.
