An Ilorin Magistrate Court in Nigeria has ordered the remand of Abdulrahman Bello, popularly referred to as the “Facebook killer-lover,” at the Oke-Kura Correctional Centre for the alleged murder of a final-year student of the Kwara State College of Education.
Bello, who was arraigned alongside five others, was charged with criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, possession of human parts, and armed robbery. The court, presided over by Magistrate Sanusi B. Mohammed, adjourned the case until March 6, 2025.
According to police prosecutors, the charges are in violation of Sections 97 and 221 of the Penal Code, Section 2 of Kwara State’s 2018 prohibition law on dealing in human parts, and Section 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act.
The First Information Report (FIR) revealed that Bello, a self-acclaimed Islamic cleric, was part of a syndicate allegedly responsible for ritual killings in the state. Those arraigned with him include Ahmed Abdulwasiu (41), Suleiman Muhyideen (28), Jamiu Uthman (29), and Abdulrahman Jamiu (31), while two other suspects remain at large.
The investigation began after the victim, Adefalu Hasfat Yetunde, was reported missing by her father. Her phone was later tracked to Bello, who reportedly confessed to murdering and dismembering her for ritual purposes. Some of her body parts were recovered from his residence and other locations.
Police allege that the suspects were involved in multiple ritual killings and robberies, targeting unsuspecting residents of Kwara State.
The court ordered their continued detention pending further proceedings.
