A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, Nigeria has ordered the remand of four suspected terrorists linked to notorious bandit kingpin, Bello Turji, in Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja. The suspects, Musa Muhammad Kamarawa, Abubakar Hashimu, also known as Doctor, Samuel Chinedu, and Lucky Chukwuma, pleaded not guilty to the 11-count terrorism charges filed against them by the Federal Government. The trial Judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, adjourned the case to February 10, 2025, for trial.

The charges involve the defendants conspiring to commit acts of terrorism, providing material services to terrorist groups, and aiding the acquisition of a military gun truck used in terrorist activities. The charges also include the procurement and supply of illicit drugs, military uniforms, and building materials to terrorist camps in Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kaduna States. Some of the other suspects, including Bello Turji, Bashir Abdullahi, Aminu Muhammad, and Sani Lawal, remain at large.

The defense raised an objection concerning the territorial jurisdiction of the court, but it was ruled that the charge should proceed. Additionally, the defense lawyers requested a short adjournment to file a bail application for their clients, which the court assured would be heard when ready.
