Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter Kizz Daniel has been ordered by a court to pay $200,000 in damages for failing to appear at a scheduled event in Germany.
The ruling follows a legal action by the event organizers after Kizz Daniel reportedly accepted a $50,000 advance payment but did not honor the agreement to perform.
The court’s judgment includes doubling the original event fee of $100,000 to $200,000 in damages. Additionally, the singer’s personal and business bank accounts have been frozen pending compliance with the court’s decision. Screenshots of alleged payment histories were shared publicly, adding weight to the organizers’ claims.
As of now, neither Kizz Daniel nor his management has issued an official response to the court ruling or the allegations. The singer, widely known for hits like “Buga” and “Twe Twe,” has faced similar controversies in the past, notably in August 2022 when he was detained in Tanzania for missing a fully paid performance at the SUMMER AMPLIFIED concert. He later clarified that he was only briefly questioned by authorities and not formally arrested.
The latest development has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some criticizing his professionalism and others urging that there may be additional context to the situation.
Promoters have also been cautioned about booking Kizz Daniel, given the risks linked to no-shows and the impact on audiences and events.
This case highlights ongoing challenges in the entertainment industry related to artist commitments, financial accountability, and event management.
