The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the suspension of all sales and distribution of Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System, a controversial book authored by human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi. This ruling was obtained by prominent legal figure Afe Babalola following allegations that the book contains defamatory claims of judicial manipulation against him.

The court order, filed under suit number CV/5372/24, also mandates the seizure of all royalties generated from the book, which has gained international acclaim and sparked significant debate for its critique of Nigeria’s judicial system. The injunction restricts Farotimi, his publishers, and retailers, including Amazon and local bookstores, from further circulating the book in physical or digital formats.

Farotimi’s supporters argue the move undermines free speech and accountability, while Babalola’s camp sees it as a necessary measure to protect reputations. The legal action comes as the book continues to gain global attention, ranking highly in Amazon’s politics category.
