The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced plans to increase the monthly allowance for corps members to ₦77,000.
This development comes after the minimum wage was reviewed from ₦30,000 to ₦70,000 in July 2024.
According to NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, arrangements for the payment of the new allowance have been concluded, and corps members can expect to receive the increased amount soon.
The NYSC has emphasized its commitment to prioritizing corps welfare, and this increase is seen as a significant step in that direction.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time the NYSC has increased the allowance for corps members. In 2020, the allowance was increased from ₦19,800 to ₦33,000, following the signing of a new minimum wage bill.
