
Lagos, Nigeria – In a captivating grand finale, Chima Udoye has emerged victorious in Season 9 of Nigerian Idol. The journey, which began with ten talented contestants, culminated in an evening filled with electrifying performances and high emotions as Lammy, Chioma, and Chima battled for the coveted title.
The finale opened with a powerful rendition of John Legend’s “Glory” by all ten finalists, setting the stage for an unforgettable night. The audience was also treated to appearances by past winners Progress and Victory Gbakara, and guest performances from acclaimed artists Chike and Simi. The climax of the evening arrived when host Ik Osakidouwa announced Chima as the winner, sending the crowd into jubilant celebration.
Judge Omawumi praised Chima’s remarkable journey, stating, “Chima competed primarily against himself, showcasing his growth throughout the competition.” Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and Channels at MultiChoice, highlighted Chima’s perseverance, commending his resilience.
Chima’s prize includes 30 million naira in cash, a brand new SUV, a music deal complete with a music video, and a DSTV Explora with a one-year premium subscription.
Chima’s rendition of Michael Bublé’s “Feeling Good” was a standout moment, demonstrating his vocal prowess and stage presence. Omawumi, joined by the top seven contestants, delivered a stirring performance, while Simi captivated the audience with “Lost and Found” from her latest album.
Lammy’s heartfelt performance of Sam Smith’s “Pray” also left a lasting impression, showcasing his emotional depth and vocal talent.
