Embattled beauty queen Chidimma Adetshina, who recently withdrew from the Miss South Africa pageant amid controversy, will now represent Taraba State at the Miss Universe Nigeria competition.
Born in Soweto in 2001, Chidimma’s father is of Igbo descent, and her mother is a Mozambican naturalized as a South African citizen.
Chidimma’s participation in the Miss South Africa contest sparked a debate over her nationality, leading to an investigation by the South African Ministry of Home Affairs. Following this scrutiny, Chidimma chose to withdraw and accepted an invitation to compete in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.
She has been officially introduced as Miss Taraba and will compete as contestant number 25. This announcement was made on the Miss Universe Nigeria official site on Friday.
