The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced fee adjustments for several temporary resident applications, effective December 1, 2024. These changes, which range from 2.80% to 4.69%, affect individuals applying for visitor, student, and worker status restorations, among other permits.
According to IRCC, the adjustments are part of periodic updates to account for inflation and ensure quality service delivery. “Applicants must ensure they pay the updated fees when submitting their applications online or by mail,” the agency stated.
The new fees include: Restoration of Visitor Status: $239.75 (up from $229.00), Restoration of Student Status: $389.75 (up from $379.00), Restoration of Worker Status: $394.75 (up from $384.00), Temporary Resident Permit (TRP): $239.75 (up from $229.77), Authorization to Return to Canada: $479.75 (up from $459.55).
IRCC clarified that applications submitted by mail before December 1, 2024, with old fees, will not be rejected. However, applicants will be required to pay the fee difference. Payments can be processed via IRCC’s online payment tool under the “Make an additional payment or pay other fees” option.
The agency also highlighted that fee increases apply to criminal rehabilitation applications and the International Experience Canada (IEC) program, which now costs $179.75, up from $172.00.
“Applicants should calculate the fee changes for all applicable categories, including family members,” IRCC advised, adding that proof of payment must accompany all submissions.
