The Confederation of African Football (CAF) awarded the Super Eagles three points and three goals on Saturday following the canceled 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Libya.

This decision boosts Nigeria’s standing, consolidating their top position in the group with 10 points from four matches, placing them four points ahead of their closest competitor, Benin.

Libya, with only one point, remains at the bottom of the group. Following this ruling, a draw in their upcoming match against Benin in Abidjan next month will secure Nigeria’s qualification for the 2025 AFCON, scheduled to be hosted in Morocco in December 2025.

In addition to awarding the Super Eagles the points, CAF has imposed a $50,000 fine on the Libya Football Federation, to be paid within 60 days of the decision notification.
