Omowunmi Aloba, the wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has made a heartbreaking public plea, accusing her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, of deliberately delaying her husband’s burial for personal gain.

In a statement released on social media, Wunmi lamented that Mohbad’s body has remained in the morgue for 18 months, leaving her in an ongoing state of grief. She expressed her frustration over the prolonged burial delay, alleging that Joseph Aloba is benefiting financially from the controversy surrounding her husband’s death.

“There is no reason, no justification for why his body is still lying in the morgue after all this time,” she said. “My father-in-law is not keeping him there out of love or grief. He is holding on because of the attention and money he continues to receive. He knows that once my husband is finally laid to rest, the public sympathy, the donations, and the sudden fame he has found will disappear.”

Wunmi also accused social media influencers of exploiting her husband’s death for personal gain, alleging that they have built platforms based on false narratives about her and her son. According to her, some of these individuals are financially supporting her father-in-law to prolong the situation.

“They have done this on social media, in their private groups, even during my father-in-law’s live sessions, and he has never stopped them. Instead, he sits there, listening, sometimes even adding to what they say,” she claimed.

Beyond the burial issue, Wunmi stated that her father-in-law is also delaying the DNA test he previously demanded, suggesting that he is not genuinely interested in the truth but in keeping the controversy alive.

Describing her pain, Wunmi said, “I am not just a widow. I am a woman whose entire world was shattered in an instant. A woman forced to carry not only her grief but the weight of injustice, the cruelty of people who see her pain as entertainment.”

She ended her statement with a desperate plea to the public: “Please, I am pleading with you. Hear my cry. Help me. Let my husband rest. Let my child have peace. Let me grieve without this never-ending battle hanging over me.”

The controversy surrounding Mohbad’s burial has been ongoing since his sudden death in September 2023. While an autopsy was conducted, the cause of death remains inconclusive due to the state of the body at the time of examination. The Lagos State Coroner’s Court is still investigating the matter.
