Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has made history as the Nigerian artiste with the most charting songs on the US Billboard Hot 100.
He surpassed his compatriot, Tems, following the debut of Coldplay’s song “We Pray,” featuring Burna Boy, Little Simz, Elyanna, and Tini Stoessel, which debuted at No. 87 on the chart this week.
This new entry brings Burna Boy’s total Billboard Hot 100 chart appearances to six, breaking his tie with Tems, who has five entries. Wizkid, the first Nigerian artist to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, has four entries, while artists like Rema, CKay, Fireboy, Davido, and Lojay each have one entry.
With this achievement, Burna Boy is now one song away from breaking South Africa’s Seether’s record as the African artist with the most entries in Billboard Hot 100 history.
