Rising Nigerian singer, Boypee, has refuted claims that he, along with his collaborators Brown Joel and Hyce, took down the video of the remix of their hit song “Ogechi” featuring Davido due to the DMW boss’ alleged greed.
The official video of “Ogechi Remix,” which gained popularity as the wedding song of afrobeats superstar Davido and his wife, Chioma, was recently removed from YouTube over copyright issues. The video had been uploaded on Davido’s record label, DMW’s YouTube page.
Following the removal, an X user with the handle @Johnnyescoba claimed that Boypee had stated in a recent interview that the video was taken down because Davido wanted to take all the royalties from the views. The user quoted Boypee as saying, “We had to take down the Ogechi Remix video cuz Davido wanted to take all the royalties.”
In response, Boypee took to X to debunk the rumors, saying, “You and who talk that one? To what profit eh guy? Wetin you wan use my downfall do?”
Boypee’s denial highlights the ongoing speculation and controversy surrounding the removal of the popular video, which continues to generate discussions among fans and followers of the artistes involved.
