Authorities on the Greek island of Symi have discovered a body believed to be that of British television presenter Michael Mosley, who went missing earlier this week. According to Petros Vassilakis, the police chief for the southern Aegean region, the body was spotted near the rocky coastline by people on a boat on Sunday.

Efforts are underway to confirm the identity of the body. Greece’s public broadcaster ERT has reported that the body is that of the 67-year-old Mosley, known for his work on BBC programs such as “The One Show” and “This Morning.”

Mosley had been reported missing by his wife, Clare Bailey, on Wednesday after failing to return from a coastal walk. The search had intensified on Thursday as local authorities combed the island. Mayor Lefteris Papakalodoukas noted the extreme heat on Symi, with temperatures reaching 39.3°C (103°F), complicating the search in the island’s challenging, rocky terrain.

Mosley was in Symi on vacation with his wife. His disappearance and the subsequent search efforts have drawn significant attention due to his prominence as a health journalist and documentary director.
