A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has expressed disapproval of former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, for backing the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC). George raised concerns over Fayose’s open support for an opposition candidate, describing it as a serious breach of party loyalty.

During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, George said the PDP would launch an investigation into Fayose’s actions, starting from his ward. “If it is true that Governor Fayose openly rejected the party and stated that he is going to work for the APC governor, he has defined his direction,” George remarked. “From his ward, they will make arrangements for that investigation within the confines of Ekiti State before they will report.”

Fayose had earlier declared on a different platform that Governor Oyebanji had performed exceptionally well and suggested that it would be difficult for the PDP to defeat him in the 2026 gubernatorial election. “As at today, I am a member of the PDP, the governor there is a member of the APC, but the meeting point is that I am a leader in Ekiti,” Fayose stated. “Governor Oyebanji has done exceedingly well. I don’t know the miracle that will defeat him except something changes between now and that election.”

George, however, expressed disappointment in PDP members who are prioritizing personal interests over the party’s well-being. He urged party members to put the party first and avoid airing internal issues publicly. “I am disappointed that the PDP members are allowing personal interests to disturb the peace within the party. The party interest must always come before personal interest for there to be lasting peace,” he stressed.
