Controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has responded to the 12-hour ultimatum issued by renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son, musician Falz. The ultimatum demanded that Bobrisky retract his alleged defamatory statements linked to an audio leaked by social media critic, VeryDarkMan.
The cease-and-desist letter, sent on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, called for an immediate retraction and a public apology for claims made in the leaked audio. In the recording, Bobrisky allegedly stated that Falz contacted him while in prison, seeking to arrange a presidential pardon with the help of his father, Femi Falana, in exchange for a bribe.
Bobrisky addressed the situation on his Instagram story late Wednesday, stating, “In reply to the two letters in circulation from the law firm of the Falanas’, I like to state for the record and pending the official reply from my counsel, I, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, aka Bobrisky, did not publish any defamatory statements concerning the learned SAN, Falana, and his son Falz.”
He further denied any connection to the content published by VeryDarkMan, emphasizing, “I stand by my express denial and advise whoever has been defamed to hold the publisher of the defamatory content. My fundamental rights to privacy of communications should be respected and protected.”
The controversy comes just days after a Lagos State High Court ordered VeryDarkMan to delete defamatory content targeting Falana and Falz within 21 days. The issue erupted when VeryDarkMan leaked audio recordings in September, alleging that Bobrisky had secured a N10 million pardon deal with Falana during his imprisonment for naira mutilation and money laundering.
Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in prison after being convicted for naira mutilation, following the dismissal of money laundering charges by the Federal High Court in Lagos.
