Lagos-based blogger Stanley Okoruwa has issued a public apology for making false allegations against popular businessman Emeka Okonkwo, better known as E-Money, and Jennifer Awele, the wife of late actor Junior Pope.
The controversy began when E-Money initiated a search for two women and a man who claimed he had an affair with Jennifer Awele. Following these claims, Okoruwa was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command after E-Money filed a petition regarding the defamatory video.
In a recent turn of events, Okoruwa retracted his statements and admitted that his accusations were fabricated to gain followers on his Facebook page. “E-Money, I am so sorry for tarnishing your image. I only made the video that E-Money was sleeping with Junior Pope’s wife just to gain more followers on Facebook,” Okoruwa stated in an interview with Arise TV.
The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that Okoruwa will be prosecuted for defaming E-Money in his online video. “He is going to be prosecuted because the things he engaged in were criminal in nature. He has allegedly defamed E-Money and he is going to be prosecuted,” Hundeyin stated.
E-Money followed due process by reporting the incident to the police, ensuring that legal action will be taken against the blogger for his defamatory conduct.
