Nollywood actress Biola Adebayo has put a smile on the face of veteran actress Dupe Jayesimi by gifting her a brand-new car in celebration of Mother’s Day.
The emotional gesture follows Jayesimi’s public struggles with childlessness, which she previously revealed led her to alcoholism and contributed to the collapse of her marriage.
During an appearance on Biola Adebayo’s podcast, Jayesimi shared her heartbreaking journey, recalling how multiple failed pregnancies and two unsuccessful IVF attempts shattered her dreams of motherhood.
“I did marry when I was pregnant, but after the wedding, I had a miscarriage,” she revealed.
She also recounted another pregnancy loss at age 40, explaining, “They did a test, and I was so happy to be expecting a child. But the scan showed that the pregnancy was at the back of the womb.”
The veteran actress further spoke about the emotional distress she endured in her marriage, stating that her ex-husband distanced himself from her.
“Whenever we went to bed, my ex-husband would demarcate the bed with pillows so that our bodies wouldn’t touch. Two weeks after I moved out of the marriage, a pregnant woman moved into the house. I wept,” she tearfully recalled.
Jayesimi also opened up about raising her younger sister’s child, only to be reminded of her childlessness.
“I raised my younger sister’s child, but on the child’s wedding day, my sister told me, ‘You cannot sit there; even if you spent millions, the child is still mine.’ That broke me,” she said.
Despite her pain, she admitted to masking her sorrow by dancing excessively at events. “I dance a lot at parties, not because I’m enjoying myself, but because I use it to hide my pain.”
On Sunday, March 30, Biola Adebayo and her team visited Jayesimi’s home to surprise her with the car. In an emotional video shared online, Biola was seen offering prayers before handing over the car keys. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Jayesimi broke down in tears.
Sharing the video on Instagram, Biola Adebayo wrote:
“Happy Mother’s Day, Mummy @dupe_jayesimi. To everyone who made this dream a reality in just a few days, I say a very big THANK YOU. To all the Talk-To-B supporters, I truly appreciate your support. I’m so happy we could put a big smile on her face.”
