Vice President of United States, Kamala Harris made a memorable entrance during her first visit to her campaign headquarters on Monday evening, walking out to Beyoncé’s song “Freedom.”

According to a source close to Harris, her team secured approval from Beyoncé’s representatives to use the song throughout her presidential campaign.

Beyoncé, known for her strict music clearance guidelines, quickly approved Harris’ campaign’s request to use “Freedom” on Monday, just hours before Harris walked out to the song. While Beyoncé has not officially endorsed Harris since President Joe Biden announced he would not seek a second term, this approval suggests Beyoncé’s support for Harris.

Neither Harris’ campaign nor Beyoncé’s representatives responded to CNN’s requests for comment. However, Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, endorsed Harris on Instagram, praising Biden’s service and expressing support for Harris’ presidential bid.

Beyoncé has a history of endorsing Democratic candidates, including performing at President Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2013 and headlining a pre-election concert for Hillary Clinton in 2016. In 2020, she endorsed the Biden-Harris ticket on Instagram, encouraging her followers to vote.

“Freedom,” featuring Kendrick Lamar, from Beyoncé’s 2016 album “Lemonade,” became an anthem during demonstrations following George Floyd’s death in 2020. Harris walked out to the song’s powerful lyrics, emphasizing resilience and perseverance, aligning with her campaign’s message.
