
Nigerian R&B singer and politician, Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, has relocated to the United States with his family to further his education.
The Empire Mates Entertainment boss revealed this move via an Instagram post on Monday, where he announced that he would be pursuing a Master’s degree in Policy Management at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
Banky W shared a photo of himself, his wife, actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington, and their son at the airport. In his caption, he wrote, “For family. For finding purpose. For the next year of earning a Master’s degree in Policy Management at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Wish us well.”
Adesua, who is also a renowned actress, expressed her support for the move, commenting, “Home is wherever you are.”
Banky W, 43, was born in the United States and married Adesua in 2017. He has been actively involved in Nigerian politics, contesting for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in Lagos State multiple times without success. Despite this, he remains committed to his passion for social change and personal development.
The news of his relocation has garnered an outpouring of support from fans and fellow celebrities. Singer Darey Art Alade commented, “Go with God cuz.” Actress Rita Dominic noted, “Awww. It’s the way your son is looking up to you both! God guide and protect you all.”
Comedian and musician Eldee the Don also expressed his admiration, while singer Omawumi praised Banky W’s dedication, saying, “I just love that you’re doing the work. Nigeria deserves a passionate leader like you, bro! Best wishes to you on this new journey, and best wishes to your family.”
