Dr. Tiri Gyan David, a lecturer at the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA), was killed in a bandit attack early Tuesday morning in Katsina State, Nigeria.
The incident took place at his residence in Yarima Quarters, Low-Cost Estate, Dutsinma Local Government Area.
Dr. David, who was the Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development, fell victim to the attack around 1:30 a.m., as reported by an eyewitness to Channels Television. The bandits, armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the community, firing sporadically to create panic among residents. During the assault, two of Dr. David’s children were also abducted.
Katsina Police Command spokesman Abubakar Sadiq confirmed the attack, stating, “The command is preparing a detailed statement on the incident.”
Dutsinma, one of the ten local government areas frequently targeted by bandits, continues to face persistent security challenges despite ongoing efforts by the state government and security agencies to restore peace.
