Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC), has issued a caution to President Bola Tinubu, urging him to refrain from “playing God” and expressing concern that his administration is leading the nation astray.
Delivering a state of the nation broadcast on Sunday at the church’s auditorium in Ikeja, Lagos, Bakare called upon the President to adopt a more humble approach to governance.
“Stop playing God,” Bakare stated bluntly, while also clarifying that his disagreement with Tinubu does not equate to a desire for his failure. “The current administration is steering the polity adrift,” he continued.
“It is time for this government to embrace humility.” Bakare emphasized that his address was intended not as condemnation, but as guidance aimed at directing the leadership towards a more effective path.
He expressed deep concern over the perceived decline of the legislature, a crucial pillar of democracy, under the President’s leadership.
Bakare also criticized the National Assembly for the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, arguing that her suspension was a direct response to her demands for accountability. He called upon Senate President Godswill Akpabio to provide a clear explanation for this action and to uphold the principles of transparency within the legislative body.
