Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has advised the new Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, to maintain neutrality and professionalism in his duties, warning him to avoid attending “nocturnal meetings” that could compromise his impartiality.

Governor Fubara gave the advice when he received CP Adepoju on a courtesy visit at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order, protecting lives and properties, and being apolitical in his duties.

The governor charged the CP to develop a comprehensive plan to tackle cultism among youths and kidnapping incidents in boundary communities. He noted that these issues were critical to the security and well-being of the people of Rivers State.

Governor Fubara assured the CP of his administration’s support, provided he adheres to professional standards. He stated that the success of the CP would not only reflect positively on the police force but also on the state government.

In response, CP Adepoju pledged to strengthen intelligence gathering, enhance rapid response mechanisms, and foster trust with the community.

He emphasized his commitment to professionalism, neutrality, and integrity, promising to work tirelessly to maintain law and order in Rivers State.

During the courtesy visit, Governor Fubara and CP Adepoju decorated two officers, Anthony Peter and John Wakama, with their new ranks of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

The decoration ceremony was a testament to the governor’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding excellence in the police force.
