An autopsy conducted on the body of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known professionally as MohBad, suggests a potential drug reaction as a possible cause of death.
The report, released on Thursday, June 6, 2024 by Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and obtained by TheCable, remains inconclusive but indicates a possible link to anaphylactic shock or drug reaction.
The autopsy report states, “Following the Order for Exhumation, the body was exhumed on 21/09/2023 (8 days after the burial). Autopsy revealed moderate to marked decomposition of organs.” Despite the decomposition, samples from the singer’s gastric content, blood, bone marrow, liver, kidney, and lung were taken for comprehensive toxicology tests.
The results detected the presence of diphenhydramine, an antihistamine commonly used for allergies, cold symptoms, and anxiety, but noted that the concentration was not in the fatal range. “Toxicology revealed positive findings of Diphenhydramine, an anti-histamine; however, this concentration was not in a fatal or lethal range,” the report notes.
MohBad, aged 27, passed away on September 12, 2023, under mysterious circumstances. He was buried the following day, which complicated the post-mortem analysis. The report highlights, “The body neither had an autopsy nor embalmed prior to interment on the second day.”
The findings speculate about a fatal allergic reaction. “The possibility of a fatal anaphylactic shock (drug reaction) could be considered in view of the absence of any significant post mortem and toxicology findings,” it states. Despite this speculation, the exact cause of death remains undetermined due to the limitations of the post-mortem and toxicology results.
The report also mentions an injury on MohBad’s right forearm and emphasizes the challenges faced due to the advanced decomposition of the body upon exhumation.
